Well today ok suppossed to do the actual install. 3 different installers told me that I won't need the interface module. Does above know if this is correct? I don't have the sounds package so they say I shouldn't need it. I guess in going to find out today. Also I can't post pics yet I don't think but I'll try when I'm done.

I've been looking online for it here in Canada but appears to be either discontinued or a US only product. They have the KW-XR610 & KW-XR810 but reviews with the optional dongle for Ipod and Bluetooth are a problem to get running requiring rebooting regularly to get a connection. Otherwise the unit appears well received and good choice.

If I am understanding the ealier post by DOM... his install did NOT require any additonal modules and was plug and play. I have steer wheel controls on my Compass which likely not work.

I don't have ipod or I phone. The only thing I needed was the wiring harness for a dodge, chrysler wires to plug and play. But on the other hand I don't have power windows or locks nor the acoustic package... But I have a question.. I have a capacitor that I had in my old car abs when I went to get it installed the guy told me that her would recommended not to install because it wasn't discharged.. So what exactly does that mean? I can't use it anymore?

Well for capacitors just short them to discharge. Bigger the more the snap. I have no idea what part of the circuit is was in and my have been used with a big power amp.

I don't understand. How do I short it? And since it hasn't been used in like 3 years wouldn't it discharge itself?

Yes in that lenght of time it would. Ok you're not an electronics guy. You make contact across the two terminals to discharge it. If its a really big capacitor normally you would use a 100 ohm or 1k ohm resistor since the snap can be massive and dangerous.

Are you still using that 1200 watt amp?

Default Discharging my cap...

To check if it has power, can't I just use a power tester? And if doesn't turn on (the tester) its discharged right?

Yes that would confirm. If the capacitor has printing on it you'll see the max voltage its designed for and set your meter at that or above DC range. The value in uf (micro farads) tells us how much energy it can store. If there is power still in it don't hold it in your hands if you're discharging it. They can explode. I am not certain but I would expect it goes in series and likely with a subwoofer but I am not a high powered audio buff. I was hoping someone else would post on this for you.

So just simple testing it can make it pop? Keep in kind it has been in storage for about 2 years maybe 2 and a half...

NO, not what I said. Shorting them could if done directly. Thats why its best to bleed them down if still charge through some resistor. If your voltmeter is in the DC range, say 100VDC there would not be a problem.
