I'm a newbe on this forum. Please excuse my bad english. I'm german. My original radio in my compass is dead. First, It's went out sporadicaly, now nothing appears. No clock and no sound. The fuse is ok. I'm took out the radio today and wish to check the voltage on the plug. But there aren't 12 V on the contacts. Does anybody know, if there is only power, wenn the radio is connected? Or should I detect 12 V if I turn on the Starterswitch? Thanks and best regards, Harry Last edited by vmaxdragon; 09-11-2011 at 10:04 AM. |

If the ignition is on or running the vehicle then power should be on one for sure. There is a box to the right of the Air Cleaner near the fender. That the Total Integrated Power Module which is computer controlled and can turn the stereo off/on. I presume the fuse is ok within it while the rest of the system is closed and unservicable.
Having said that you might need to check with an audio specialist since you can't just pop any stereo and have it work. There is some communications and computer prerequesites. It is entirely possible the stock radio is gone south but they are pretty robust and I would have to think something else is wrong.
