The other day I was wondering about where the cabin air filter was in the Compass. I went on Youtube and found a video that showed it was behind the glove box. I followed the video and found the filter compartment but there was no filter in it. I understand that Jeep does not supply a filter with the Compass.

I checked on Amazon for a filter and found they go from $10 to $30.

So, I was wondering if you could get a home air conditioner filter and cut it to fit the compartment. The pricey ones look the same as a regular air conditioner filter to me.
What say you?:dunno:

I have a 2007 Compass with 80K miles. From my research, it seems the alternators go out around this mileage.

I am getting a rattling noise on idle and a high-pitched whir during deceleration. Everything I've read about how these stupid ill-designed alternators work points towards it (more specifically its pulley) being the issue.

I'm just looking for some confirmation from anyone who is familiar with what a failing alternator clutch sounds like. If need be, I can record the sound and post it. I am stationed overseas so it's difficult for me to get parts (and get them quickly) for my vehicle despite how much I really want to throw parts at it right now.

Hi everyone. I bought a 2014 Compass Sport about a month ago. Already put 4000 miles on it. I haven't owned a Jeep since my 1979 Cherokee when I lived in Alaska, but I've owned several Mopars. I tried other vehicles and found the Compass was perfect for us; compact, roomy, able to tow a boat, go through snow or mud, good mileage, simple dashboard (you should see the mess Ford has made of dash and controls), and decent price. So far I'm getting 24 mpg in town and 27- 32 on the highway. And enough power for what I need. It is fun to drive.

Looking to get my 07' Compass worked on this Saturday. It runs relatively well, and I have made sure to keep up on the maintenance in the owners manual. Recently (this morning), I have noticed my engine making a relatively loud squeaking noise (very general description I know). I replaced the spark plugs on Saturday myself, anyone think this could be related?

Also, what kind of list should I provide my mechanic for general service/tune-up with this kind of mileage? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

For those of you who haven't used Plastidip...this stuff is VERY easy to use. It's fool proof!

Tip for removing the dip on the inside of the letters (e, p, o, etc.) ... take a toothpick, scratch a bit off and start spinning the toothpick until it grabs on and starts pulling it all off. At first I was just scraping but this technique makes it MUCH easier.

I recently tried cleaning the throttle body on my 2011 Compass. But, I was told not to force open the throttle since it's electronically controlled. However, my understanding is I need to clean behind the throttle opening otherwise I really haven't cleaned it. Can anyone give me some direction on how to clean the throttle body if I'm not supposed to manually open the throttle to clean inside it?

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I just registered. I'm wondering if any of you can help me with this?
I have a 2011 compass and wondering if anyone else experiences this phenomenon. All factors being equal, correct tire pressure, using gas from the same station each time, no extra cargo, alignment okay, no A/C, etc. I get about 26-27 MPG in the city (freeway and city streets). But, when I've traveled from Orlando, FL to Savannah, GA the past 3 times my fuel mileage goes down, that's right goes down, to 24-25 MPG. The dealer can't find any codes in the computer or any malfunctioning parts. I've never owned a vehicle that gets lower MPG on the highway than in the city. Has anyone else experienced this or can tell me what might be affecting the highway MPG like this?

Thanks.

Hi all, I introduced myself earlier on the forum but it turned out I replied to an older message. Silly me.
Anyhow, I'm Clay, a proud Compass or should I say, Jeep owner....

Bought it three months ago, no regrets so far, especially if you consider here in Belgium you hardly see these cars... Imagine this; last month Jeep sold 25 cars in Belgium. Their record must be something like 92 cars sometime last year (april or so)...Its' nice to belong to the happy few:eyebrows:

Picture of my Baby-Jeep is attached. 2013 S-Limited edition, Bright white, 2.2 diesel (it's actually a Mercedes engine, what a surprise) Six speed manual, Navigation, Boston acoustics, heated leather seats, full Voice controlled bluetooth enabled comms (it really works:hyper:), Automatic climate control, full option actually, I just didn't have the sunroof. A dream come through!
