Front door hinges on Compass

The front doors on my compass have, like all cars, an intermediate resting stop position midway from being closed to fully open. This is achieved by a cam on the hinge fitting. It allows you to push open the door to this position to exit the car. My doors open but do not rest at this mid position but pause and then continue to the fully open position resulting in the door lunging to a stop.
Has anyone had this problem and what was the remedy?
