Default Parking Brake

So, I parked in a parking spot on a hill, and the parking brake wouldn't hold. Off we went, rolling down the hill (I have a standard, so a good parking brake is essential). Took the Compass in to have the brake fixed, and they said that there's nothing wrong with it. I insisted they double-triple check it, and it came back "fine." So, it's all in my head then? The resolve (according to Jeep): Don't park on a steep hill with more than two people in the car, or check how steep the hill is before parking. Are you serious??? I've driven a stick all my life, and have NEVER had to 1) restrict who was in my car (or ask how much they weigh); or 2) measure/guestimate the grade of the hill I was parking on. Give me a break.

So, I'm left with...now what? I just don't trust that the car won't roll down the hill anymore...

Default Update...

So the update today, is that now my TPMS is going off, but the tires are fine. So I'm guessing they took my tire off yesterday and slapped it back on without clearing that or something to that effect. Back to the garage I go after work....ugh.

Default Tpms

I know that mine all started acting up within the past week as well, but to no fault but mother nature. The evenings are starting to get cool enough for long enough that the air is at a lower pressure. Not sure if this is the same with you, but I was just waiting on it myself knowing that with cooler air means more air has to be put in. Hoping it si the same with yours and nothing else

You should be able to adjust the cable in it. I've never done mine yet but it shouldn't be to difficult

In any manual I've owned in the last 15 years, I always leave it in 1st gear on any hill, even if the car is brand new

1st gear if you're facing uphill, reverse if you're facing downhill. you should always leave the transmission in a gear that is opposit the direction the car would roll if it broke free.

funny. i have an automatic transmission compass. and i always use the tires first and then parking brake. turn your steering wheels all the way so they are touching the sidewalk that way it wont roll back.

I always leave it in gear. Always. I learned a long time ago, the hard way, to do that....LOL...
