Jeep Compass Of The Month: January/February 2012 Winner!
Jeep Compass Of The Month July 2012 Winner: kylec713 Congratulations to MyJeepCompass.com member kylec713 on winning the July 2012 contest! Check out the current months contest to submit YOUR ride! And now let's hear from our COTM winner for July: http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1343932460 Hey guys, thanks so much for voting for me! To start off, I am a 22-year-old recent college graduate. I bought the Jeep Compass Sport 4x4 5 Speed brand new to be my commuter car. I have always modified my cars, so I knew I wanted to slowly start on this too. I started with the Jeep mud flaps, Trail-Rated badges, a CB radio, then plasti-dipping the wheels as well as the grille inserts. I got the Curt class III hitch as well, so I could pull my little bass boat. MyJeepCompass.com has been very helpful in the year that I have owned my Jeep, and there are a lot of awesome people on these forums. I look forward to seeing who wins August COTM and I would just like to give a quick shout out to Tyler-98-W68, who tied with me, AWESOME looking Compass man!! |
Congrats! Inevitable but well deserved, I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like in 3 months when you try for COTM again :)

Looks good, I would make the tow hooks red or yellow, or you going full black?
|
id like to make them red or orange but no one makes coloured tow hooks. i don't want to paint them as it would chip off easy as the have a "rubber" like texture
|
eventually the grill will be all black when the release the body coloured slots
|
You could try plasti dip? A lot of Grand Cherokee owners either use this or spray their chrome grille
Plasti Dip Protective Coating Products | Plasti Dip Protective Coating Products | Rubber Dip Coating |
Yea if heard seen that stuff. How would it be for chipping away after awhile and what not?
|
Not sure how tough it is, but as its a cheap way of doing it, if it gets damaged you peel it off (in one!) and spray it again.
There's a lot on YouTube but most people leave the pieces on the car instead of taking them off to do it properly! They only do one black though so it might not match like it would if you paint matched the pieces. |
It seems litke a flat matte blaack tho?
Maybe ill wait a couple months to see if the body colored grill comes out This may work on the tow hooks tho? Hmmmm |
Congrats tbsoundarts, your compass looks awesome.
They make red plasti dip also. |
does anyone hear have 225 70r16 on there compass?
I'm putting 225 70r16's on mine this week so i can take of the wheel spacers i have with my 235 65 17 will there be a noticeable difference in tire diameter from my 235 65 17 to the new 225 70 16? old diameter spec is 29.1 new will be 28.5 (putting on BFG AT kO) really want the same look i have now just without the spacers should have got 225 75 16? i think they would rub tho as the ones i have now do |
Just saw your recent pic with 16's on tbsoundarts. Your ride looks good as always. :canada:
So do you feel like its still looks the same? What are the benefits of decreasing the size of the tires? With 16's do you get the same look as you did with 17's and wheel spacers? anyways your compass inspires me :usa: |
Very very nice ride and congrats on your win, your Compass looks awesome! As for Plastidip, I've known others who've used it with great results on their wheels, grilles etc. Some have even invented new uses for the stuff lol but it's really resistant to rock chips and things like that and best part is, it peels right off if you decide to paint later but gives you a good idea what something will look like blacked out without spending a lot of money. :)
