Default The Wave

The following has been blatantly stolen from www.jeepwave.com

You do wave?

Jeep Wave Rules
These rules are an attempt to make it easier to facilitate the mandatory wave when coming in contact with another vehicle of the Jeep nature. Though there are several variations of the waving rules, the following were designed as an easy to remember guideline for when to wave and who should wave first.

Rule 1:
If you are a driver or passenger in a Jeep vehicle, and you come in contact with another occupied Jeep vehicle you should wave. If the other Jeep is not occupied, the wave is optional.

Rule 2:
Be the first to wave. Don't wait, just wave.

Rule 3:
Be forgiving. Sometimes the occupants of the Jeep receiving the wave are not paying attention, distracted, or are paying attention to driving. We all know how you can get lost in the euphoria of driving a Jeep and forget about the outside world.

Rule 4:
Wave vigourously. When cruising at 55mph towards a vehicle going 55mph it is sometimes difficult to see the 'over the steering wheel' wave. Get that hand out and make it seen!

Rule 5:
When you are the recipient of a wave, return the wave.

Rule 6:
Sometimes Jeep owners forget they are not in their Jeep and wave by habit. When occupants of non-Jeep vehicles wave, returning the wave is optional, but usually a good idea.

When I first got my Jeep Compass, I too thought this to be an important courtesy.
I learnt to wave at "same cars" years ago.
British sports car drivers have always done so.
I must add . . . with the window tints on our modern cars it is often difficult to see the wave, unless the window is open, of course.
Wave on!

If you don't wave it hurts the vehicle's feelings, that's why they break down.

Everyday as a child i used to pray to God to give me a jeep. After a couple of years i realized that God did not work that way. So i stole a jeep and asked for HIS forgiveness

I tried that but people looked at me really funny. Wonder if it was because I was walking at the time.

Actually, that's where I learned about it, from my local Jeep club, and according to their "rules," Jeeps are in a hierarchy, categorized by type, style, etc., and the lower ranking Jeep is supposed to wave first...

For example, if I were in my Compass and I come up to a Wrangler, no matter what type, I would have to wave first as I would be considered the inferior Jeep, whereas if I am driving my Cherokee and meet up with a Patriot, they would have to wave first, because I would then be the higher ranking Jeep. Sounds silly, but it is taken very seriously, especially in some clubs and among some owners, and the moment I applied the decal to the windshields, I agreed to abide by the rules. I have been driving something other than either Jeep and still wave, but the un-occupied Jeep, now that's just funny!
