2008 Compass 4x4

Hi guys, I bought a 2008 Jeep Compass North Edition this summer and am loving it. I am wondering though, now that it is the time to be using my 4x4, how do I know that my 4x4 is actually working/doing anything? When I engage my 4x4 switch, the light on my dash comes on to indicate its turned on, but I almost feel as though its not really working, even with the light on... is there any way that I can check to see if it is indeed working?

i had a 2008 and basically i knew it works when i got stuck in the snow and couldnt get out unless i flicked the 4x4 switch. this video better explains how it works, make sure you speakers are turned on
