CVT fluid?

I got my 07 Compass @ 77k and I do all my own maintaince (being a mechanic). I never had a CVT so I was wondering how do I tell if the tranny fluid is bad (reg fluid gets brown and smells burnt). A co-worker w/ a Compass has a dipstick he bought off line he used when he changed his fluid. He said it should b clear but was wondering if there was some way to tell if its still good or has been changed around the 60k point?

i don't think it needs changed at all unless you use it for towing and in extreme temps, check the owners manual.
