Default A/T tires compared to regular summer tires

Hi guys,
the spring is knocking on the door (at least at my country) and I have my old Pirelli SRT summer tires worn off, so I am considering buying new ones.
So mi dillema is buying regular set off summer tires or go for Yokohama A/T since here, they are on very similiar prices. My current tires are 225/65/17 and I drive 50-30-20% city/highway/mild offroad
My friends here are telling me that an A/T tire will cause a lot of noise on the highway especially when I go above 100-120km/h (62-75 mph) is that true? And I will change the stability and throtle response of the car which will make it more sluggish. Is that true? I have to agree that equiped with a diesel engine my Compass is not very silent on a highway but for now its just Ok, but I am not quite sure I can handle more noise on a long journeys. I will be very glad if someone driving with A/T tires can give me an opinion.

Thank you, greetings from Bulgaria))

P.S. My car is Compass 2007

Ok, you will have to find someone using those tires or some other A/T. The reason is the thread pattern and rubber generate the noise. The standard Goodyear Affinity that came on our Compass were very noisy on some pavement surfaces. Mine are gone for that reason as well a traction reason in winter.

If the tires is bigger and heavier you'll have slower response in accellerating with more weight to spin around.

This may not be the answer but if you see them on some other vehicle you can ask about road noise level from them.
