Fail Rated Jeep Compass?

Seems like the new Jeep Compass had some troubles at the New York Auto Show hill-climb section of the course they were displaying.

To be fair though, it was a wet, heavy incline, metal grate and that just equals leaps and bounds of traction loss.

But when it came down, it came at a certain angle where they had to rock it back and forth to try and get it leveled enough again to which the driver tried to make it up again, but it was a no-go.

Check out the video posted on CarScoops below !

Maybe they would have had an easier time if that was dirt, but wet metal is slippery for most people to walk on when flat, it's going to be even worse at an angle for a car. Not really a failure on the Compass' part.

That's not an equivalent test considering the weather there was dry and sunny. Wet metal grates = obvious failure IMO. I don't see how anyone could expect any vehicle to go up that when wet.

I agree, it's not a fair assessment and odds are Jeep didn't plan for that to happen otherwise we would see the test happen indoors as some car makers do. At least when the JL is ready for release we'll get another look at how the Wrangler takes on a similar course.

That wrangler video definitely can't be used for comparison considering the obvious change of weather variables lol. I would have appreciated if they waited for better conditions and posted another video of the compass though.
