New Transmission needed

Walked out to the garage Monday morning to a big puddle of Transmission fluid under my Trailhawk.
Just over 10,000 miles. So off to the local dealer who has been outstanding (unlike the selling dealer).
I was told they would be replacing the transmission.
The vehicle had a leak from the day I picked it up (New) Jeep had some engineers come and replace a seal and a collar. That worked for 10,000 miles..
Will have to see how it goes with the new Transmission.
Have to say I am very disappointed.

That sucks. At 23k my KL Trailhawk had the transaxle replaced. After that, it was as good as the 9spd ZF can be. Good luck on the repair.

Sorry to hear you had this level of an issue so soon. For me it would be a big turn off for long turn ownership, how long do you see yourself keeping this Compass for?

That's a very good question. I would rather be on here telling everyone how wonderful FCA was taking care of the problem.

(latest unofficial update) FCA Engineers coming with new transmission next week to supervise the removal and installation of the new transmission.

Hope all goes well and this isn't a recurring theme!

Having issues on a brand new car is never fun. Sounds like if there were issues with it from day one that it was a manufacturing quality issue (as opposed to an engineering design issue). At least they're swapping in a new transmission rather than trying to rebuild the existing. That usually gives better odds for long term reliability. I'd be curious to know what parts failed. Good luck

Side note: If they had offered the trailhawk with a manual trans, it would be sitting in my garage.

I have my Trailhawk with it's new transmission back as of 10:30 this morning. Will see how things go.
Apparently the main transmission shaft was not machined correctly or damaged during assembly, causing the new collar and new seal to wear/leak.

Good luck. I've done three 150 mile round trips, and last weekend I did a 280 mile round trip. This weekend I'm doing a 1,300 mile round trip. I'll come back with over 3,000 miles on the clock in just under a month. So far, I've just had the alignment done, tires balanced, and fixed half a dozen rattles inside.

I put on about 2500 to 3000 miles a month. Will see how things hold up. Apparently the engineer made the comment to the tech that this was one of the highest mileage Gen2 Compass in the US. As long as it does not have to sit in the shop 2 weeks at a time I will be putting on the miles.
Have a safe trip this weekend.

Their response seems good enough to me, hopefully the Compass keeps up because its a great product, the last thing it needs are issues like what you have had. It doesn't help that american car makers still have that reputation of having bad build quality.
