Until I can get a permanent fix for the exceedingly bright illumination that is killing my eyes (speedometer and center display won't dim, I posted in that forum) I'm considering installing an HID Kit in order to have better frontal light. I mainly drive on lonely rural roads and it's deer mating season here.
The deer are going nuts and running all over the roads here at night. We also have ferrel hogs (nearly the size of my Trailhawk) and I'm thinking HID lights would help me see these critters better on dark nights, than the stock lights on my Compass. I went on a ride with a neighbor in his 2018 Chevrolet pickup having factory HID lights and WOW, I thought I was in a Boeing 777 at night on final approach and could see the entire planet.
Has anyone here installed an aftermarket HID kit on their compass? I've been looking on Ebay and most of the sellers are based in China, not having the best reviews/ratings for sellers.
I have found an independent source here in the USA, but since I am not familiar at all with HID kits, I would appreciate tips. I do know I want 5,000k lights an not the "blue UFO" types I've seen that seem popular with "beings from other planets."
I know the LED headlights have a longer life, but everything I've read state they don't have the stronger "light-throw" for seeing really far down the road and I need all the light I can get to see deer that have nearly the same coloring of the asphalt on our country backroads.
(Oh deer oh deer, what shall I do?
