After Market Heated Seats

A few months ago while getting my oil changed I grabbed a sales guy to see what Compasses they had in stock. I told them heated seats are a requirement and none of their inventory had any.

He tried pretty hard to convince me that there's a place in town that can add them and I wouldn't even know they were after market. I scoff'd at the idea stating I can see any issue that comes up with electronics being blamed on the after market heated seats and not being covered.

What are peoples' thoughts on the sales persons suggestion. I think it's a very bad idea and can't see how they would integrate into the uconnect. Just curious if he's blowing smoke to get a sale.

I put some seat heaters in my mom's car a few years back.
1) no way in hell it would integrate with the uconnect, or automatically turn on when starting the car like the "real" ones do.
2) they were a huge PIA to install. Have to rip the seats apart and put them back together, Tons of wiring and Have to have a place to put the two extra switches.
3) the ones I got for her were no where near as warm as the "real" ones.

Why wouldn't he just look around at other dealers to find you what you want? My dealer had to go 250 miles to find me a trailhawk with all the advanced saftey stuff I wanted. It was no big deal...
