Uconnect shutting of on 1mth old Jeep Compass 2018

Just leased 2018 compass last month. First time having a Jeep. Uconnect shutting off every few seconds and restarting and shutting off. Ran it to dealership. Have to wait 3 weeks for an appointment of drop off without one and wait 3 days. Really? Besides running, nothing else is usable because the radio, nav etc is thru uconnect and it stops every few seconds to shut down and reboot.

I googled and tried some tricks out there with holding down temp buttons or mute and tune but nothing sends it to reset. Anyone suffer similar problem? I have to be without a car for 3 days if I drop it off or wait 2 weeks to drop off and get a loaner, and I'm supposed to pay a full month's payment and Uconnect doesnt work? I know I'm griping, but first time Jeep user, close to wishing I had stuck to my RAV4.

Any suggestions before bringing to dealership is appreciated. Thanks....

Welcome to the forum. I had issues with my radio, it required a full replacement. Don't let them try re-programming it. It will just make it worse.

Thanks. What an annoyance. Can't even listen to music and watching it flash off and on is driving me nuts. Seems the more they add in cars the more problems. give me my radio and cd player with usb and I'd be good

Mine has been in the shop for 3 weeks tomorrow. They gave me a loaner 17 Trailhawk, exactly like mine, except for the color.

This week, the loaner started with flipping over to max a/c while driving (one of my issues), and today the radio/uconnect starts then shuts off at 30 seconds continuously.

I'm done with this crap. Going back to a Grand Cherokee. Gonna initiate the buy back tomorrow.

Hey so I had this happen yesterday while I was driving. I thought it was faulty wiring but I called my dealer and they said its a known issue and they're waiting for FCA to tell them what to do to fix it.

I got fed up and called Jeep Customer Care and the agent told me it was legitimately a Uconnect update and that it should be done within 24 hours, so roughly 4pm EST today. Im still waiting.

The biggest concern for me is even when my car is off and locked the screen turns on and off, so essentially my battery is being affected by this.

This exact issue started happening to me yesterday. It reboots every 50 seconds no matter what and hasn't stopped since.

UConnect General Support - 1-877-855-8400

The rep I spoke with said they are aware of the issue. He requested my VIN number to add to the list of affected vehicles.

Ok Yes I just called as well they took the VIN and said someone will call withing 24 hrs. In her words they played big brother today with a security update and it backfired on most if not all 2018 Compass's
She indicated that they were told it may fix itself overnight or next day or 2 but also said they may have to have dealers perform update to fix it. She said from what she can tell they are gonna re program the entire radios now with fix.
Still I find this unreal.
Our 17 Charger radio failed and had to get replaced as well. And My 18 Ram had a radio issue when I first got it but it fixed itself after a few cycles.
I guess I am happy my 13 Durango has an old school radio per say but it has worked great.

Good luck everyone Great thread to help others

Hello ek7389,

We understand why this is frustrating. Please send us a direct message with your VIN and current mileage as we'd like to look more into this.

Hi:

I am having this same issue on my 2018 Compass Limited that I picked up 3 weeks ago. The current mileage is 750 miles. The update got installed on 2/10/18 around 3:00 PM EST. Never agreed to anything on the screen about installing an update. First the bluetooth started skipping, then the BT disconnected then the reboots started. It has been rebooting every 30-40 seconds since then.

Called the Dealer this morning (2/12/1 at 8:30 AM and they indicated I was the 80th call about the problem. They opened at 8:00 AM. Last 8 chars of the VIN are: JT117485

Where are you getting this information? I have heard 5 different things!

FCA specialist I just spoke to said they have no idea, at the moment, when a fix will be available. The only information she had was that the fix will be pushed out OTA.

Mine is fixed now. I didn’t notice anything on the screen but I assume it was an OTA fix.

EDIT:

The issue is back. Worked fine for only 1 drive cycle.

It's a Uconnect issue with late build 17 and 18 Chrysler's. My cousin with a Grand cherokee had no Radio today at all, when he called they said it should be fixed by weeks end.

It is all relative
THey supposedly sent out an update to all the late 2017/ 18 builds with 8.4 and it failed miserably. Screwing up everyones radio across all lines, My 2018 Ram is doing same on and off, the Compass same , But several members of my Durango Forum are having major issues as well with same on /off behaviour.

Haha, a cell tower that at best serves 20-30 square miles, goes down and that messed up peoples radios all over the country?!? That makes perfect sense..

My Jeep dealer had said the same, oh should be fixed by end of day. Which would have been yesterday. As of today...still flicking off and on every few seconds. I just called UCONNECT and they said still working on a fix. Sigh... I don't know how a fix can go through if the system keeps shutting off every few seconds though. Maybe next step is to call and get a supervisor to get the low down on whats going on.

I read an article online yesterday. If it makes you feel any better it is not just a compass or even Jeep problem it is affecting a crap ton of Chrysler products. I'm not sure calling and complaining will help anything as I'm sure they are aware of the issue and are already working to fix it..

I contacted Jeep on 2/12/18. It is a known software issue. They are working on an update to fix it, but there is no estimated time for deploy of the update. Working for a software company myself, depending on whether or not they know how to fix and how elaborate the fix is, this could be a wait of a few days to a wait of a week or more. Hoping it's the former and not the latter! The car still runs, so it's not too urgent, but I think we are all so attached to our software perks, that the lack of uconnect system is very inconvenient!!

It seems to only be affecting those who registered their u connect radio with u connect and sirius guardian. At least 2 friends one with another Compass and 1 with a durango never registered the Uconnect or teh sirius guardian and both still have full function. Julie can you confirm that only subscribed members were affected.
