Hexagon significance?

I've noticed on my Compass, there seems to be hexagons everywhere... Since this is my first Jeep, is there any reason for it?
They're in the background on my electronic center gauges (although faint there), the background on the touchscreen display, the seat fabric, even the all-weather formats and cargo liner. Looks like even the tachometer redline may be made of tiny hexagons, but my eyes aren't that great. Lol
Anyhow... Is that a Jeep thing like the Easter Eggs?

well not for nothing but hexagons are the "magic shape" in nature as they maximize area to perimeter ratio (or for 3 dimension, they minimize surface area to volume) and are able to be stuck together, using only themselves. Circles are the most efficient ratio, but they have gaps when stuck together.

Jeep may just use this to make efficient use of building materials.

A lot of things in nature make use of them, honeycomb for example. Another example is hexagon columnar jointed "trap rock" basalts. Also mud-cracks will naturally approach hexagon like formations, as they dry out from the perimeter. Favosites, an extinct coral would also make hexagon or near hexagon shapes.

Only know this b/c I teach geology =)

p.s. they also just look good. No one likes a square...
Koily likes this.

Could be a Mopar/Jeep thing. If you look at images of the Jeep Trailpass concept (modified Compass), there are all kinds of hexagons both on the exterior (hood and side decals) and on the interior (leather seat embossing).
