Aftermarket Android Auto Head units appearing online (China?)

After market android auto head units beginning to emerge on ebay and amazon. Who wants to try one out and do a review? lol. I'm not ordering one until I know it's not a glitchy pile of android junk. I love my Moto Z2 force, so these look tempting, and I've heard positive things about android auto (yet android tv is almost un-usable lol, bless you if anyone uses it at home).

So, anyone think its worth it? I have the bare min uconnect option at the moment.

I used to always swap a fancy new radio into anything I bought, but I've grown too old for that nonsense now and more importantly than that the stock radios have grown to include too many non-radio functions like controlling the heated seats, heated wheel, and climate control, and setting car options like engine off headlight delay and such. They are too closely intertwined with the rest of the car to be swapped as easily as they were back in the day when the only things they hooked to were power and speakers. Times have changed, I recommend just buying the car with the upgraded radio you want from the get-go now because its too much headache and hassle anymore.

My two cents.

Sadly the Compass I ended up going with has the most basic of Uconnect system. Not even satellite radio. Though when I saw the power output on the aftermarket android auto head units, it reminded me I have the beats audio system option, which means I'd wager the sound quality will take a huge dive if I install something that is ill-equipped to provide enough power (or quality signal) to the existing speakers.
No idea how much power is even going to the speakers from the existing head unit, but I'd wager it's more than 50wx4 as advertised on the specs within those head units. For audio reasons in particular, it looks as though I'll be forced to give up the pursuit. Maybe Jeep will offer their Uconnect systems as an upgrade option for owners in the future? I don't like that it's not available to buy oir upgrade after purchase. None of the dealerships I went to even offered me the option to actually customize what I wanted in the compass. Whatever was on the lot was what they had to offer. I wanted a 6 speed manual, and the sacrifice I had to go with was the Uconnect 3 bare bones head unit. = /

you can go here
iDatalink - Maestro - Home

they make modules that allow aftermarket radios to interface with the car, and retain the options you have

I tend to agree.

If it's not on the lot, look elsewhere, or order the vehicle equipped the way you want it

I thought about it, and I already have a nice android phone. A Motorola Z2 Force...So using the phone would be logical then.
The most reasonable solution for me was staring at me in the face each time I was on my Amazon prime home page;

Phone mount holders! Plus, A basic (and I mean VERY basic) version of android auto is available on the app store too. combined together and I should be fine with the setup.
Once I can get my music library a bit more organized, I should be able to cue up most of the music w/ voice commands. - Either from "ok google" or just using the VC button perhaps.

* Just in case someone else stumbles into this thread with the same Idea I had, I've posted links to the solution that saves me 300-400 dollars and a headache lol; - phone mounts to place near the head unit / top of dash somewhere. The first and second link are ones I ordered.

This one was tempting but reminds me too much of something my wife would store makeup in:

For sure is better than a simple radio.

I used to use an android multimedia in my Toyota RAV4. It allows you to run everything you run in your phone. But, in my case, I only enjoyed for the first two months.. after that I returned to the old and good usb+mp3. lol

I'm happier with my uconnect 8.4-inch. Works good with my 320kbps songs, it's fast and the 600x600 cover art from ID3tag works like a charm.
