Fascia Discoloration

Greetings all,

This post is directed towards Jeep Compass owners who own a Bright White Compass.

Recently, I noticed my rear fascia is turning a yellowish brown. Additionally, the lift gate handle is turning yellow. Has anyone else noticed their fascias discoloring? I took my Jeep in for service and the advisor suggested using a clay bar. This did nothing. However, while at the dealer, I noticed new, undelivered white Jeep Compass models with discolored fascias.

I have escalated this to the FCA Compass fascia engineers; I have been employed with Chrysler for 28 years. Unfortunately, the Compass engineer is not making any effort to look into this matter. Therefore, I am hoping to find other Compass owners experiencing the same issue.

Had this exact same issue on my white compass. It was really noticeable when I tried to fill in a rock chip with touch up paint and it didn't match. I opened a claim at my local dealer and Jeep corporate paid up to have my front and rear bumpers repainted.

Good for you! I was at the dealer today and every new white Compass had yellow fascia. Mine is scheduled to be painted next week.

I can tell you heads are rolling at the Chrysler Tech Center. This issue was ignored. The cause is from the fascia supplier not mixing paint properly.

Interesting postscript to the fascia discoloration. All white fascias coming out of the Mexico factory, including the fascias on the Dodge Journey are discolored. The fascia arrive at the plant black. The problem was finally addressed - after a year of builds. White Compass models built after August 2018 do not have this issue. FCA claims the discoloration is minor and, in most cases, will not cover a repaint. This is sad and truth be told, I am embarrassed the company I work for is doing nothing.
