iphone holder

Anyone using an iphone holder mounted to the vent located slightly to the left of the center console? Does it work well in holding the phone while driving? Or are people using the suction cup mounts? Any pics or links to what you're using would be appreciated.

this is one thing i dislike about the compass, I tried using a couple different suction cups on the dash but they end up just falling off a few days later. The vent clips work im sure, I'm just not into covering my vents up. So for now I leave mine in the cupholder lol

I was thinking about that kind of cupholder cellphone holder but in the Compass the cup holder is in the rear of the console behind the gear selector, instead of being off on the side like in some other cars so it seems to be in an inconvenient location to look at whiile driving, compared to being attached to the vent.

Do you find the cup holder position to be okay for holding a cell phone to look at say google maps while you're driving?

I have the vent magnetic mount. Works great for me. I have a iPhone 6s and fits fine.

I can't post links but I got the AUKEY Car Phone Mount, Air Vent Magnetic Cell Phone Holder from Amazon.
Just add www in front

I've got a vent clip in the vent just to the right of the steering wheel. One of those "gravity" ones where the weight of the phone pulls the side arms in to lock it in place. The view is OK. Not great, but it works. I never liked the suction cup ones. I'll try and remember to get a pic tomorrow

This is pretty much the same, just without an attached cable. Itís better to have a separate cable to plug into the usb port anyway to use Apple CarPlay / Android Auto. I like mine and have not had any issues.

Here's mine. Once the phone is in the holder, the bottom left quarter of the screen is blocked by the steering wheel. But I use Android auto anyway, so it's not a big deal

After messing with vent mounts for a week, I went a bit lower and bought a surface mount magnetic holder. It's stuck on the center console just below the SelecTerrain knob, and the base is narrow enough that it doesn't obscure the LED mode indicators. My LG V40 is a pretty big phone, but it seems to fit great there. The shift lever doesn't hit it, and neither do my knees. Because it's right next to the USB port, I was also able to use a short 12" cable, which means less wire running everywhere.

There are only two downsides to the spot. First, the top of the phone covers the SelecTerrain knob when it's mounted, so I do need to lift the phone off the mount when engaging 4WD. Not a big deal, really. The other is that I can't look at the phone while driving because it's mounted so low...but that's honestly probably an upside too.

I ended up using this vent mount from amazon:

Fits perfectly in the vent just to the right of the steering wheel.

I'll take a pic when I get a chance. Thanks for the responses!
