What's your car's name?

Ok, so I was talking about this to my niece and she thought it was weird that I name my cars. I told her I've always done it, as have my friends for as long as I can remember.

So I'll pose the question to you all. Do you name your cars? if so what names have you used?

'59 Chevy "The Gray Ghost" My Dad's car that I grew up with (I was too young to drive)
'60 Falcon "The Coon" as in Falcoon
'68 Chevy "Tomcat" since it was gray and black
'69 Camaro "Spot" had a lot of rust spots
'74 Cherokee "Snowball" was all white and went good in the snow
'77 Volare "Purple People Eater" (actually it was dark blue)
'84 Pontiac "Zippy" had a turbo
'86 Electra "The Boat" because it was a land yacht
'93 Olds "Daisy" looked like a flower car
'96 Bravada "Sparky" was red with gold trim and looked like a fire chief's car
'97 Bravada "Kermit" Its not easy being green
'01 Pontiac "The Batmobile" was black with a rear spoiler and I had a stuffed bat for a mascot
'08 Patriot "Ignatz" the cartoon mouse with the attitude. A FWD Jeep that could go anywhere
'11 Wrangler "Rocky" can climb rocks
'14 Patriot "Bullwinkle" sits in the driveway beside Rocky
'18 Compass "Jasmine" is Jazz blue

I've had a bunch more vehicles, mostly company cars that didn't have enough personality for a name.

I was never in the habit of naming my cars.
It's usually "THE" + brand name or model.

You really gotta thing for "D" names! I like it, especially Damita Jo! Hope D'Raya will serve you well.

yah that's weird you name your jeep.
I call it "the jeep" since I've only ever had cars before it's hard to not call it "My car" etc. I wouldn't give it a name.

My Compass was named "Sweet Lemonade" named after it's 30 page service history

I had a friend who called his '62 Rambler "the Heap" because it was old and the ragtop was tattered. I don't recall it ever breaking down and it lasted well past 100,000 miles. Not a bad record for a '60s car. Fun car, too. I bet he wishes he still had it.

This works, except at one point we had three red Jeeps in the stable and two were the same model. Either names or numbers were necessary. To say, "I'll take the red Jeep" was meaningless.

I think sometimes the model stands out more than the name of the car and vice versa.
I haven't heard anyone call their Mustang "the Ford" nor have I ever heard a Ferrari owner called their car "the Modena"

A co worker used to refer to the Compass as "The Hawk" after the Trailhawk badge. It kinda stuck and gets referred to as that occasionally. The Colorado is called Colly, and the ION Redline is called Blue. My Partner's Subaru Crosstrek is called Scooby. The Buick Roadmaster is called the Barge.

I have been taking some heat from the guys at the office for my Compass.... I went from a F250 King ranch 4x4 Diesel long wheel base to my 19 Compass TH and I think the drastic change was a little much for them! So "they" have given it, and guilty by proxy me, many names, most of which are inappropriate for the forum... being as its the orange/ black color scheme I have heard "pumpkin spice" and "Barbie Jeep" thrown around. The one that is sticking the most at the moment is "Baby-Jeep."

They're just mad they don't have a "HallowHawk" of their own.

Come to think of it, our '59 Chevy (mentioned in post #2 above was a/k/a "The Bird Car" because of its horizontal tailfins and squinty taillights. https://59classicchevy.com/

I have not gotten into the habit of naming my cars...probably because I don't work on them myself. If I built my own car or worked on it often I'd feel more connection.

That said, I've named my 2018 Trailhawk Compass "Navi", like the fairy from Legend of Zelda... because it constantly gets pebbles in the brake and screams at me, and its smart enough to argue with me about my driving (put your hands on the right part of the wheel, you want to go straight on this curve not follow the lines!) but too dumb to drive itself (no Adaptive Cruise Control).

If my Garmin ever said that to me she'd get unplugged.

Take a good look at your Snow White Compass. You will notice the rear fascia is discolored - a slight yellowish tint.

Just noticed that Pontiac. A limo? Nice machine. My favorite was the '70. They don't style cars like they used to.
