Hey everyone been going through the form the last few days I’ve had the jeep a couple of months and decided I wanted a more off-road looking tire wasn’t much information on here to go with the 18s so I decided to try the wild peaks
I think it looks sooooo much better then stock completely change the look looks more like a jeep now
Falken wildpeak AT Trail 225 55 18
Ive been looking into picking up a set of these as well. Cant seem to find them in stock online tho. Where did you purchase from? Also how is the road noise with these tires compared to stock?
Hey all thanks ... I got them at a local tire shop in Long Island NY house of tires 700 mounted and balanced was easier then ordering online and mounting
Road noise and ride not as smooth as stock but definitely feels more like a Jeep now can’t wait to test them out in snow ...
Thanks man, I appreciate the feedback. $700 mounted/balanced is a fair price. They came back in stock online and they are scheduled for delivery on Weds. My old Grand Cherokee Trailhawk had All-Terrain's from the factory and they were great in snow. I think you'll be pleased.
Hello there. Since we are on the topic of tires? I have been looking for a bit beefier tire also. Mine is the 215-65R-17 wild peek HTs on a 2019 trailhawk. I was looking at BF Goodrich KO2’s 225-65R17s on stock wheels (kinda dig the stock wheels). With a 2"ATP spacer lift (already got the lift and the stock tires seem small). Was wondering if anyone here had thoughts if this combination would work or have tried the KO2’s already?
Oh yea... I’m new here.
Their a great durable tire. I have them on my F350 & was considering for my compass but they are pretty heavy & I don't want to shorten the life of my 9 speed trans. & I'm afraid if I increase the diamater over stock I will be afraid of screwing with the shift points of the 9 speed. I had to come to understand that my compass is little more than a soccer mom grocery getter but with a 2" lift & more aggressive tires/rims & 1" spacers & front tint I think I can make it stand out from the average compass. The Yokahama Geolander tires have much higher performance ratings than stock tires in virtually all categories.
If you do a bit of searching on this site. There are couple people who have already installed KO2’s 225-65R17s on stock wheels with out any spacers or lifts and they all have very positive comments about the tires.
Here is a pic of a Trailhawk with those tires. They are heavy tire though.
Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus are another popular choice for those seeking an aggressive tire without the excessive weight of the KO2s. The 225/65R17 Scorpions actually have slightly more tread depth than the comparable KO2 all while staying under 30 lbs/tire which is pretty impressive. Great consumer ratings. Reasonable price. They are even snow-rated (3PMSF).
On-road handling and behavior is pretty important to me for my Limited trim which I drive 95% on a fast-moving 4-lane highway, so my next set of tires for my 18 inch rims are probably going to be Goodyear Assurance Weatherreadys, but if those don't provide me sufficient winter and adventure traction then the next time my 17 inch rims need new tires the Scorpions will probably be my top pick. I used to be pretty sure the geolandars were the way to go but I'm not as confident about that anymore.
Thanks all. Never thought about the pirelli tires. Or the Yokohama for that matter. The pirelli is a bit cheaper also for the scorpion AT+. Looks pretty good also. Might have pick up a set.
Well..... I took y’all’s advice and had the Pirelli tires put on last night. Gotta say that I like them a lot. No issues at all and they look sharp. I believe that with the slightly taller scorpion all terrain plus tires, that gives me a total of 11 inches of ground clearance. I’m thinking I might have to break them in going up to the four peeks trailhead this weekend. If I can eventually figure out how to attach a picture here, I’ll put one up.
