Cabin Air Filter

I just installed one. Nope, Jeep did not put one in the slot. Its empty nothing, no filtering. Good thing they put an engine air filter in though and did not leave that for a user addin.

I used Wix 24313 filter.

If you're going to do it. Do it while its hot or very warm. Bending the plastic getting the glove box out could be a big problem in the Winter.

Garage
When I bought mine last August I put one in and there was nothing there. I can't believe Jeep was that cheap to not put one in, it would have been pennies to them. I wonder if they put that on the window sticker as a standard feature. I have never seen another manufacturer that doesnt install one when they build the car. I get mine from RockAuto, whatever one is cheapest.

I agree they would be nothing for them to have put one in them. I know that a GM van once (Venture maybe) they promoted the cabin air filter for drivers and passenger. Less alergies etc I am sure. It's not than big a filter.

K&N are ok for people who want a bit more umph at higher RPM as it passes more air easily but not for you engine if you intend to put a lot of miles on it. It allows more dirt to get by the filter and a No No if you're in dusty roads or area a lot. Stick to the conventional filter for max protection.

An engine running way too cool will have the engine running richer than it should. Watch you gauges (you don't have too many on these), oil pressure is missing.

I believe they only put one in if you have factory AC...if no AC, then no filter from factory..if you have factory AC you should have one installed from the factory...Cabin air / AC filter are the same thing BTW....

No cabin air filter in mine or in my truck for that matter. Even the new trucks with the upper glove box have to be modified for a cabin air filter. I understand saving money with production costs but if the engine needs a filter, why not the air we breathe?
