Programming keys

I bought 2 transponder keys on ebay, I had them cut but I'm having problems programming them. I'm following the instructions from the owner manual but no luck. I stick first working key into ignition turn to the ON position for about 3 seconds. Then turn OFF and remove key, insert second working key then wait until you see the security light over temperature gauge comes on, that's where the problem is. It never comes on. Is there something wrong or am I doing something wrong? By the way I have two working keys, the keys don't have the jeep emblem on them so they might be copies. Does that make a difference?

Did you get the replacement keys that were made in the USA, or they the imported versions?

Assuming you did everything correctly and followed the owner's manual instructions exactly, the replacement keys should work, unless you got bad keys.

This place sells Made in the USA transponder chip keys for a pretty reasonable price.
