Jeep Steering Wheel Cover

When I went to PEP Boys this morning to get the touch up paint I noticed that they had official "JEEP" steering wheel covers! Incidentally, the Jeep wording is an inlay and not just painted on. It is visible at 120 degree intervals around the cover. Well made and should last for years. Less than $15. Lookie here!

That red "bandana" is covering my 2 meter ham radio. I have it in a leather bag so I can take it out of the car when I leave it for long periods. And yes I have a dash compass cause my 08 Sport model didn't come with the built-in one on the instrument cluster. I have the outside weather temperature feature though. I also have the 115 volt outlet. For the love of me I can't figure out why Jeep didn't just put the dam electronic compass in all the models! Like how smart would it have been to name a car Compass and not include a working compass with it! So I added a nice Sherill compass myself. I plan to get a GPS next month anyway.

Lol, good call there. That is a good question though. I wonder if anyone has officially called them out on that...

They were really working on making a cheap-jeep.
Still they came up with a great ride, but really - how much more would a compass have cost?

Looks good Skyeye, like the steering wheel cover and the compass is a nice touch for the Compass. Even though mine came with the compass display, I had thought about adding one to the dash. Gotta let it live up to its name right? After all, who needs a map when ya' got a Compass?

Speaking of navigating with a magnetic compass. When I was a youngster I used to take my dad's boat all the way out to the Chandeleur Islands and Ship Island in the Gulf Of Mexico from Bay St Louis, Mississippi using a NS Ritchie nautical compass. I rarely missed my mark by a few thousand yards. Remember, over open water there are no landmarks! I wonder if the average 16 year old could replicate that trip today without a GPS? Probably not. We are losing so many basic skills due to the computer it's disheartening.

I'm not a huge fan of those steering wheel covers, in my opinion they look kinda cheesy, but thats cool that it says jeep on it tho.
