Hardwiring GPS

Does anyone have any tips/ideas?

I recently hardwired my Radar Detector and I love it not taking up the plug and having wires running everywhere. Now I want to hardwire my GPS (since it only gets about 2 hours running time on a battery). The GPS I have doesn't come with/or offer a hardwire kit.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do it? Can I just cut the car charger and hook it up that way? I really don't want to ruin the OEM Charger.

GPS Mio DigiWalker C520
Charger tip is similar to the mini USB cables.

Thanks in Advance...

I would recommend maybe getting another car charger for the unit then modify that one. The chargers normally convert 12VDC to around 3-5VDC for the devices normally and have some fusing involved. You could modify this charger unit and wire it into the fuse block directly but it would take research on your GPS model to see that the voltage requirement is from the charger.
