Unhappy 2015 Compass and USB

I purchased a 2015 Compass recently and am having problems playing audio tracks from a USB. Generally most of the files are not recognized, or if they are, they do not play fully.

What I have tried
  • Various file formats (mp3,mp4, avi, wpm
  • Different size USB drives (2gb,4gb,8gb,32gb and 64gb
  • Different File Formats
  • Adding a playlist file
  • Erasing and formatting usb drives
  • buying a brand new USB drive

Any ideas, tricks, known issues that you have seen?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately you're not alone.. I ended up changing my radio out with an aftermarket one... The USB was terrible on this u connect radios.. I switched to a nice JVC touchscreen unit with with retained steering wheel controls, Bluetooth, and sat radio... I everyday upgraded the 6x9s in all four doors and amped them with a 4ch amp.. Sounds amazing

It sounds like you found a nice system that works. What model was the touch screen? And what speakers did you end up going with? Thanks!

My current set up in my 2014 jeep Compass

My current set up:

JVC KW-V10 (radio)
( JVC Arsenal KW-V100 DVD receiver at Crutchfield.com )
Some of you may consider this radio too cheap, it works great for me. I bought it for the USB connectivity, because the factory u-connect system is terrible. Its a nice radio for the price. Keep in mind, Kenwood makes these radios.

Antenna Adapter: Metra 40-EU10 Antenna Adapter
( Metra 40-EU10 Antenna Adapter Works with select 2000-up vehicles €” Motorola male to factory antenna female at Crutchfield.com )

Dash kit: Metra 95-6511 Dash Kit
( Metra 95-6511 Dash Kit Fits select 2007-up Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Mitsubishi vehicles €” double-DIN radios at Crutchfield.com )

Wiring interface (can-bus) : iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR Interface Module
( http://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSM...odule&skipvs=T )
(retains chimes, accy power, and steering wheel controls)

Wiring harness (for iDatalink) : iDatalink HRN-RR-CH1 Factory Integration Adapter
( http://www.crutchfield.com/p_794HRRC...apter&skipvs=T )
(this eliminates the need for wiring manually - This will allow for easy plug'n'play for the radio harnesses)

(all the stuff above was purchased from Crutchfield - They are great for package deals, when I bought the radio, they threw in the Dash kit, and antenna wire free, and cut the vehicle iDATALINK price in half so it was affordable)

=====Amazon ============

Speakers: 2 of Rockford R169X2 6 x 9 Inches Full Range Coaxial Speaker, Set of 2
(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o05_s00)

Amp: Kenwood KAC-M1804 Compact 4-channel Amplifier
(Amazon.com : Kenwood KAC-M1804 Compact 4-channel Amplifier : Electronics)

This amp is perfect for this vehicle, It fits behind the dash and doesn't require running power directly to the Battery. It taps into the Radio's existing power which is plenty.

I am a certified M.E.C.P. Installer, so if you guys have any questions on Car audio or Remote starts for these vehicles , let me know.

I also recently installed this system:

Viper Alarm/Remotestart : Viper 5706V 2-way Security System w/Remote
(Amazon.com : Viper 5706V 2-way Security System w/Remote : Vehicle Security Complete Systems : Electronics )

Wiring Harness for remote start / bypass: Directed Electronics CHTHD2 Chrysler MUX Style T-Harness for DBALL and DBALL2
( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o03_s00 )

This makes it easy to install, eliminates manual wiring and modifying factory wiring.

Immobilizer bypass: XpressKit DBALL2 Databus All Combo Bypass Module
( Amazon.com: XpressKit DBALL2 Databus All Combo Bypass Module: Car Electronics )
This is the immobilizer bypass compatible with this vehicle, requires a XK Loader to install firmware on it for this vehicle . This is something I've acquired over the years installing remote starters.

Take my word for it, the set up I have is cheap and sounds amazing. I have a lot of Highs and lows (bass). Once you amp your 4x 6x9 speakers, you will never need a Subwoofer. All 4 of my doors sound like Subs.

FAT = File Allocation Table - try formatting to FAT32

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_Allocation_Table

May also be a size issue, how many Gigs is the USB?
