Run power cord from battery to cabin

I just purchased a 2018 compass with the Uconnect 4 8.4 screen and i'm upgrading the sound system to aftermarket subs and amplifier. What is the safest and most convenient way to run a power cord from the battery to the trunk?

Not sure. There is a 40 amp fused power circuit that runs to the back driver's side fuse panel, obviously not enough juice to run an amp on BUT if it were me I think I would add an auxiliary battery back there and find a charger designed for that scenario that limits charge current to 10 amps or so, 20 at most. Then the amp can have its own dedicated battery (depending on wattage would not even need to be a large battery), and as a bonus then there is a sort of jump-starter option potentially available if you ever need it or more power for other things like a camping inverter (something I'm considering for down the road).

I posted a somewhat detailed walkthrough on getting the cable through the firewall in the 2nd gen Compass Facebook group.
