Power window & locks backlighting

I never paid much attention until now that its dark early and driving it more in the dark. On the drivers door cluster of buttons only the drive power window button has a green light threw a slit to show its position. All the other bottons have the slit but no light, neither do the three other doors. Power locks are also not backlit.

I took it to the dealer for other warranty work and was told that normal and how it was built. My 02 Laredo has all buttons backlit. have they made a mistake is this so.

Look like you have the same year and likely build. How cheap is that no back lighting and LED's are not in there. I have to fumble in the dark trying to figure out what to push to unlock the other doors, windows the same.

Ok, sounds like this could be the way they are.

I just dropped my Compass in for more warranty work. I asked about it again and was there a kit to add back lighting to the buttons/switches. I was told NO. Now that its dark I realized how difficult it is to find the unlock door without the back lighting. I had the need to let my son in the passenger side and he wonder why it was taking so long to unlock the door. I can see where they are did not know which one to push I said after he finally got in. Both our Grand Cherokee Laredo and his Explorer Sport has back lighting but not this build of Compass.

It sure makes me wonder about the cost cutting gone into this design of Jeep.

PS: I just started rebuilding this Compass (under warranty)
- TIPM replaced (fog lights not coming on or long delay before coming on)
- long CV shaft (driver side), CV boot and shaft were oily (I do my oil changes and noticed this while underneath)
- rear shock (leaking) noise over bumps and creaking this morning. Actually being done as I type this, This was incorrect, what they told me but. Both rear Struts were replaced complete with springs.
-instrument console replaced (outside temp was not updating and was way off)

More to come since there is a rubble or shudder felt as I come to a stop normally. Not braking hard or quick but gently fairly often and very occasionally when pulling away with light throttle. The tech has not detected it yet but sure feels like engine shudder of some sort.

I am over 42k Kilometers now. They'll be seeing me often in the shop.

WOW!!! That sure is a lot to put up with. Any thoughts about hoiw long your gonna keep your compass? I'm already looking at other cars, and I'm NOT looking at Chrysler products. Yesterday, my Compass wouldn't pull away from the house. I put it back into park, then drive. The RPM's went up, but the car hardley moved. As I was turning it around, to park it, everything went back to normal.
I'm not ready to deal with somthing else, and Jeep and the dealers are not interested in my problems. I'm looking at the Equinox now. 4 cyls., that get 600 hwy miles, to the tank. 6speed trans, not a rubber band.
Never had a GM product, but I sat in one of these, and it blew me away.
Sorry Chrysler, but I'm not rich enough to buy a car that needs so much work, and attitude to boot. I have bought so many neons, and caravans, and lancers, and a k-car. Even a P.T. Cruiser. But as soon as I drive up in this Jeep, the employees run. They know, and now I do too.
