Oil it, lube it !!

Okay my friends, You might think that this is a crazy idea or unnecessary check again.

Most cars have anti roll bars both front and rear. These are mounted on rubber and sometimes polyurethane bushings. Most cars come with rubber bushings. This is okay. The trouble begins when these rubber bushings start to dry and get hard. They tend to stick to the surface of the anti roll bar. When they do, they squeak and or introduce unnecessary friction in the suspension. This could then result in some weird suspension performance. Damping in the suspension is the purpose of only one component in the system and that is the shock absorber. If there is friction in other parts of the system, the shock absorber does not do its job completely. When you drive with friction in the anti roll bar bushing or ball joints your suspension will feel odd. There might be squeaks or mysterious noises.

If the bushings have excessive friction, the rebound feels weird. Sometimes it feels that the springs are weak. This is specially noticeable on the rear suspensions. When you hit a bump, the binding bushing "holds" the suspension in that position. It will finally overcome the friction but you will already feel the weirdness. I lubed my anti roll bar bushings with lithium grease and the weirdness disappeared. Consult with a mechanic if you have questions about this. I am just letting you know what I did to my bushings.

My sway bar bushings (in the rear of the vehicle) started causing issues within about 4-5 months of ownership. The temperature dropped below zero (F) and I heard very loud squeaking. Greased the bushings and it went away. Same sort of noise reappeared in the summer in the high heat/humidity days. That was more of a creaking noise. Disappeared again once I reapplied some grease. Very annoying as this vehicle isn't very old.

There is a special "sticky" grease called Formula 5 pre-lube you can get from Energy Suspension that will last a very long time. Made for their aftermarket poly bushings.

I suggest you get their 8 oz. Tub, part # 9.11104

I know there is an issue posting links to company web sites in this forum. But their web site is simply their full name with no space .com. They are located in San Clemente, CA.

Formula 5 Prelube
Formula 5 Prelube is a versatile, waterproof, non-melting grease. Formula 5 Prelube forms a tough, durable, chemical resistant film of lubricant that prevents metal-tometal contact even under severe shock loads. Only a small amount is required to properly lubricate and prevent corrosion.

2010 Compass LTD White on black.
Added UConnect w/IPhone cable, front/rear MOPAR mud flaps, K&N drop in air filter, hardmount gooseneck cell phone station, MOPAR cargo liner, MOPAR cargo net, remote mount ESCORT Radar/Laser Detector w/Voltmeter readout, upgraded speakers, added stock mount Tweeters & sub-woofer, MOPAR Back-up Camera/monitor, front lower grill, interior wood accents
