Questions about the 4X4

Hi guys I got a jeep compass 2011 latitude 4X4 engine 2.4l my questions are

1.- I never use the 4X4 lock switch I never had a chance to use it I'm planning to go to the beach and idk if I will be fine using my compass on the sand.

2.- What do you guys recommend on this cases? I'm new on the off road thing.

I will appreciate you're guys feedback.

The best way to drive on sand is to let some air down in ur tiers to get better traction on the sand and not to dig into it just make sure yoy dont spen the tiers if u look in the manual it says the best psi for them for sand and mud
