Front Subframe Rot on 2008

I just took my 2008 Jeep Compass to the mechanic. Once he took off the driver's side wheel, he showed me that the front control arm and subframe was completely corroded. The subframe looked like it was in two pieces.
I Googled the problem and found on here several people with this same problem. Unfortunately, the recall only went until 2007, and my Compass was made in February 2008. Did anyone have any luck with getting an extended warranty for this? Likely it was made with the same 2007 parts that warranted a recall.

Just call the dealer and/or Customer service at Jeep. They have to resolve it and they know that!!! I should never happen at that age. Nothing you hear or are told here is going to give you the approval. Its still Jeep that has the last say until Transport Canada puts out a safety recall. You can report this to them as well.

Thanks tripplec, I am just super upset because of the amount of money I have put into it over the last few years. Was super pumped about my Compass till about 3 yr in when I had to replace almost everything in the front end... it all rusted out. Ill call them monday.

The front ends suspension is notably worst on the 2007, and not much better after but it seems from my 2009 was better. I've replaced all mine as well. Struts all 4 under warranty. Steel is the worst I have seen in any vehicle in decades. I just replace all the rotor since they rust so fast just sitting unused for a while that the pads have torn groves and wear very fast. The surface never gets smooth and shiny again not matter what.

I got my set from a source in Toronto if you are looking into something before the winter.

I just checked and mine was manufactured Dec 2006, I should still be covered for the repair right? Like I said, I'm new here.... never dealt with anything like this.

Yes, but we all should be regardless of the date. Its not suppose to happen. Imaging driving down the road and hitting some good pot holes or bad road and the front end goes in different directions or worst.

Absolutley, everyone with this issue should be covered for sure. I just called and my repairs will be done in a week. There really needs to be a recall on this. It is just not safe at all. I dont even want to drive it. It sounds horrible!

If you check some posts others have had dealer try and some did saddle them with a big bill for a number of connecting parts the claim need replacing. IMO whatever need to be replace because its too hard to re and re them should also be covered. Its not your problem its Chryslers so the dealer should bill them back.

I have a 2008 Patriot with a manufacture date of September 2007. I just had the oil changed at the Jeep dealership. When I picked it up, they told me my front crossmember was rotted through with holes in it. They said it would need to be replaced soon.

I read the threads on this forum about the extended warranty offered to 2007 owners and how some 2008 owners with the same problem obtained coverage even though their Patriots were made after the July 31, 2007 cutoff date.

I contacted Jeep Cares and they don't care. They said the extended coverage only covered those models made through July 31, 2007. I asked for a manager and was told a manager would have to call me back. That was 5 days ago and no call back.
