Rear brake problems

Please tell me if anyone else has had this problem with their rear brakes. I have 2016 Jeep compass sport with 75 anniversary package. At 25,000 miles only I had to have rear drums re surfaced already and new rear brake shoes already. I know that was too soon and fought with GM but they didn’t help me. I paid the dealer to do it. I’m now at 45,000 and I was at my local tire shop replacing my tires and I asked them to che k my rear brakes. They told me they were at a 3 and needed to be replaced. Keep in mind 200 miles before that the Jeep dealer that did my oil change marked green box on the inspection. I’m so frustrated so I take it back to dealer and let them know what happened and they Check it and tell me oh they are betweeen a 3 and 4 so they are not even half worn yet and drums are ok now. He said the shoes start at a 5. And oh I have to pay 75 for the inspection.
I do not think rear brakes should be wearing out this soon. Has anyone else had this issue?

I have no idea what sort of driving you do, but if you're in stop&go traffic, your brakes are going to wear faster than mine will since mine are mostly highway miles.

Your dealer declined to replace them and said they were only 1/2 worn? I'd call that good news.

Also, where do you park? If you park on a dirt driveway metallic brake surfaces will rust. I left my Compass on a dirt parking lot for a couple days and when I drove it again and hit the brakes I could hear the surfaces making contact. After using them a few times it went away.

Garage
some tire shops can be sketchy

i would also think a 2016 would have disc brakes.
with drums used for parking brakes only
can you verify what it has?
