Rubber Asphalt Undercoating

I want to apply the spray can stuff from Canadian Tire (on sale $4.99) only on the plastic wheel well liners of my Compass of course I'll take off the tire and mask off the body, struts and lines...will do 2-3 coats and let dry overnight.

How many guys have done this? Is it a messy smelly job where it never dries and drips and the smell lingers for days. I just want it to sound deaden the noisy tires a bit and gravel noises when I go hunting. I am not undercoating any metal parts or undercarriage which might void my warranty trapping moisture whrn it cracks.

Or should I just forget about it. Would it be a good idea to give the spare tire well a hit?

To deaden the impact of stones on gravel roads, might dull the noise. I am not rust proofing it. I did it on my Grand Am years ago and it seems to work a little, but it was a messy job years ago.
