4WD system overload?

So, I was just sitting here thinking about my Jeep and I kept thinking about the warning light that says "4WD!" Says when it's blinking, there is a 4WD system overload. Now I wonder what exactly a system overload situation would be, any ideas? Anyone ever done it before?

On my previous FDII patriot and my current FDII Compass, both of which I have severely beat up offroad I have never had that light come on to indicate an overload (at which point you are a fwd suv).

On my old patriot I did have the !4WD light come on due to some electrical problems that were fixed up under warranty. I would venture to guess that you'll never overload the system. I"ve driven MK's for 5 years and never had that problem.

I have that problem this week-end. But I do some off road.
I have two time the "!4WD" light. I think it is when the ESP cannot transfer the power.
It come when I had the FWL and RWR on the ground ant the other in the air.
I had the 4WD on and the ESP on. The last time, in june, I had the 4WD on and the ESP off and I did not have that problem. The next time I will test the both configuration.

What about overheating issues? Has anyone ever overheated the AWD system?

I"ve never heard of that happening, and I don't think you should worry about it, i've beaten my compass offroad lots and never had the system overheat or cut out
