I just posted about my first oil change, and I have very low mileage according to the schedule. I have had my Compass 3 mos. yesterday, and I only have 1157 miles on it. First thing, the service schedules we have in our manuals, really don't apply unless we drive in SEVERE conditions. However, I never thought about it like that, so I asked my dealer, and they told me, that even if you don't drive it that often, it is a good chance to run the engine and lubricate those parts. No, oil does not chemically go "bad" so to speak, just sitting there, but you do need to run the engine, warm it up and let it run. From my personal experience, when you let somethig sit idle for that long, everything settles to the bottom, so it becomes necessary to at least run it, whether you drive it or not.
