Compass limited 4x4 query

Just got my MY14 limited.
Is the 4x4 part time?
I saw on a youtube clip that some part time 4x4 cars you can't use activate the 4x4 for too long.
As this will make the part time wheels running want to wind up.
I.e. in this case the rear wheels.

Any thoughts if this would be an issue for the new Compass?

Is there a way to just lock in the 4x4 permanently?

Compass is an awd system, it will engage the rear tires as it needs to, and the computer will unlock the rear tires to prevent binding in turns. You can also "lock" the compass in 4x4 by using the t handle, this will request the jeeps computer to engage the rear as much as possible, the computer will unlock it when it needs to, to prevent binding. On the compass you can lock and unlock the 4x4 at any speed without any harmful effects, computer will look after everything.

The 4x4 system is not mechanically locked like normal part time 4x4 systems, it uses an electrically controlled clutch to transfer power to the rear wheels.

Hope that helps.

Im from Australia and am thinking of the RRO lift.

If you are a little bit mechanically inclined the lift isn't overly hard to install, the front is very easy. Back is a bit tougher Another option since you are in Australia is
