I'm happy for you . I hope you get many care-free miles from your Jeep Compass. This will be my final post on the Jeep Forum. The tie rods now needed replacement on my '07 Compass so I decided to unload it while the mileage was still below 30,000. I traded it in for a '11 Toyota Camry Hybrid. I'm getting 35 mpg and the car is great. I wish everyone on the Forum to have many miles of safe amd trouble free miles of travel. It was fun rapping with you on the Forum.

Congrats! I'm sure the wait is agonizing, but not much longer now!

umpire410, sorry to see you go but ultimately you have to do what's best and good luck with the Camry.

and a week later.... still nothing.

apparently, all the vehicles ordered for BC were shipped via rail cars to washington state. and jeep could not/did not coordinate enough trucks to bring them the last stretch so there it sits.

Dealer will update me at 3pm today. There goes weekend road trip #2.

Whatever they tell you add a month. There's a lady on the forum who ordered a 2011 and it was well over a month later it showed up. It just a tactic they use, its coming its coming well so is fall and winter. She cancelled her order and had her hold on or something then it showed up. They got you by the ....

Yep, you're probably right ! Still chugging away with my old Ford Escape, so it's not like I'm really stuck....

I'm a bit surprised that in my case the Compass required a factory order. The colour is very common, North Edition is almost a given in Canada, and the Security and Cargo has got to be common.....

So the trailer tow package a $200+ option, is the holdup. I figured the trailer tow package would be a dealer installed option......

Westcoastguy,

I think I am going to have to do the same thing as you, mark June 1 as the date. Every time my phone rings, I secretly wish it's the dealer telling me the car has arrived....

What's most important to me at least is whenever the car does arrive that it is one of the "good ones" built and not some rush job just to get it out of the door. After reading some of the issues others have had with earlier models, I would rather wait and have a "good one".

As I write this, it cold windy and rainy, so I don't mind so much today...

That's strange, I wonder what the hold up is for that ? 8 days, wow ! There must be some good explaination for that.... I mean, why would they not want to get the deal complete, money in their pocket instead of having a vehicle sit on the back of some truck ? Weird....

some dispute with allied transport? not sure and im sure im not getting the whole story. just pissed that we have to keep rescheduling our plans. don't give a delivery date if you can't keep it. if my deposit wasn't non refundable i would have gone and puchased something else out of spite.

Patience

It's called "anticipation" . . . .
An important part of the experience that will be quickly forgotten once you finally get your ride.
You WILL LOVE IT, good luck this week, it is getting closer.

Lol! Thanks i2canoe for the reminder. I would have felt a lot better if they had just stuck with the end of April delivery date. Telling me April 9 when there is a dispute going on was misleading and disappointing, but nonetheless I am still excited.

For the long term owner you're probably better off with the tow package option. The cooler for the engine and built in harness is worth the price. The hitch and receiver are not part of it but that's installed by any reputable hitch installer and you're done.

Anything to make these last longer is work the few dollars. But you can still give the dealer manager a hard time why you're waiting so long for the build. They may throw in an extended warranty to keep you happy. Especially if you threaten to cancel if it does not show up.

yeah that's the biggest reason i went with FDII. The cooler, the extra ride height, skid plates etc. it will probably go off road at some point but that wasnt my 'drive' behind paying the extra for FDII.

Hi,

Just for kicks, I asked the sales manager at the dealer the status of my order place March 26 and got an email response back stating that my Compass is scheduled to be built by the end of this month and then shipped to the dealer. So mid-may is pretty much what it is....for now....

My dealership stopped providing updates as of Friday. It is now Tuesday...

A long and pointless conversation this morning with Chrysler head office was mysteriously disconnected and they didn't bother calling back.

She said they don't provide delivery dates and when I asked her who did she said Chrysler. What the hell? [email protected] me with something hard and sandpapery.

We talked in circles until the call dropped and she didn't call me back.
Last thing she said was my next point of contact should be the general manager.

1st call, uh I'm sorry he's busy can I take a message?

2nd call 3 hours later, because he never called back..
"He's tied up at the moment can I transfer you to his voicemail?"
Uh if he has voicemail why did you take a paper message before?

3rd call , voicemail again, no response.

Chrysler, you should have made better arrangements to deal with your transport issues before telling allied to stuff it. What do I get for all this?

Nada.

Hey WestcoastGuy,

Did your dealer provide you with a VIN number ? My sales manager was able to provide that, not that it means anything from a delivery persepective, but it is something traceable at least.

I called Chrysler Canada about a warranty related question (which I must confess they knew less than I do!) and then mentioned if I had VIN or VON (which I guess VON must be vehicle order number). See if you can get that info and see if that helps your "investigation" at all.

Hope this helps,

"G"

Go after the sales rep where you ordered it. Demand factual details as to the wait otherwise threaten to cancel the order since they did not met their terms of the delivery date (assuming is on you agreement) which is should be. If they say they'll do something or offer you something go in and get it in writing otherwise you might as well piss into the wind.

Thanks guys, a friend in the biz shared some insight with me that the GM is likely too high up in the order to bother with me, he has people under him to deal with me. It's just too bad they are not.
So Chrysler's suggestion of contacting him was pointless.

2 calls to the salesman i dealt with unanswered today so I guess i'm going to have to make an appearance and and get some answers face to face.

And this is who i'm supposed to call if my ride breaks down...

Talk about getting the run around, pretty crappy customer service all the way around, but hopefully when you're standing there, they won't be able to avoid answering your questions, good luck!

Wel the salesman called this morning before I bothered driving to the dealership. He was very apologetic and explained that they have resolved the dispute with allied and my rescheduled delivery date is may 2nd.

Fingers crossed.

On the plus side, my dealer doesn't tag their new vehicles with dealership stickers. Thank god, I hate the practice of dealerships tagging them without asking/discounting first.

Have a great long weekend everyone!

Well here's an update for those of you following along...
The GM finally called me back April 27. I missed the call and he left a vm apologizing and stating he had been out of town for a week.
I am confused about who the employees were taking messages for, because multiple staff had already confirmed he was there when I called.
So either the staff at the dealership arrive on the short bus or I've been lied to again.

The vehicle I was promised? Still has not arrived.
The salesman I have been dealing with told me they had resolved the dispute with allied. This was a load of crap.

They simply made alternate arrangements to transport the vehicle.

It finally returned to Canada after being foolishly transported through the states, and now it sits at customs since last Saturday waiting to be released to the dealership.
I was told Monday, then Tuesday, then Wednesday.

The salesman toldnme he was going to the yard the vehicle is being held for clearance to find out anything. Today is his day off so I was much appreciative.

After not hearing from him by 130pm I called and he was just arriving to tue yard and said he'd call me back. It's been 2 hours...

This may seem like petty complaining to some of you, but the dealership, salesman, and Chrysler Canada have been missing the mark horribly from a customer service standpoint.

Looks like we will be cancelling our trip for the 4th weekend in a row now.

The silver lining is that there is an extra $1000 rebate available now, which the salesman implied should smooth my frustrations a little.
Uhh, EVERYONE gets that price break so don't even think for a second that that will make things any better.

Will keep you all updated. Hopefully with pics instead of more delays.

Why am I not surprised. Murphy hangs around here messing up my life but maybe his brother is there with you (where ever you are). Good luck and enjoy the trip but I would give it a week before going away. I something was not Pre checked properly or working right you have time to give em hell before you're on the road.
