THE WAVE?

DON'T JEEP DRIVERS WAVE AT EACH OTHER :

I’ve been driving a British sports car now for 30 years and one thing I really like is “THE WAVE”.
Drivers of the same make and model always like to give each other a hand wave or flash the lights when encountering each other. There are some long time established rules or etiquette in waving. For instance lesser priced vehicles may wave “UP” while it is at the discretion of the more expensive vehicle’s driver to wave back.
I guess it’s an Brit thing, but I sort of feel inclined to wave at other Compasses in passing, maybe cousin patriots too . . . but I think they’d wonder what the heck is with this guy??

Wrangler drivers wave at each other all the time ... but I've never noticed Cherokee or Liberty drivers waving.

When I had my various MGs in the past, waving at other sports cars (particularly British ones) was the thing to do!!

Unfortunately, there are not many of them around here, Compasses that is, but in the South, everybody waves at you, no matter what you drive, but there is a certain comeraderie among Jeepers that is not shared with too many other folks except bikers. In my Cherokee, everyone knows me for that car, so they all wave, and I get a lot of waves from strangers, but in the Copass, I have started waving at other Jeep drivers, regardless of model, to "spread the love" so to speak, just to see what kind of response I get. Interesting sociological study, but you might have something with that whole "Wave up" thing. I guess I will have to keep doing it and pay more attention.

The funny thing is, though, I usually pass the same people going to work in the morning each day. In the Cherokee, they recognize me. So the next day I will drive the Compass, and they're like, who is that, and, probably, what is that??? Where is that red Jeep? I honestly do wonder what other Jeep owners think when they see it. I have noticed people pull up very close behind me when I am at a stop to see what kind of car it is, which is also funny in its own way.

Thanks for that . . . I'm with you . . . share the love . . . pass on the WAVE!

But I'm sure that some of the "Big Box" Jeep drivers would wonder "what the ??", if not preoccupied on thier cell phones, notice us waving at them.
