Yikes, those tires are c**p. Those are terrible.... I'd definitely recommend replacing those tires as soon as you get the Compass. What I'm saying is don't let some rubber stop you from buying a Compass.
The only problem is the fact that who ever purchases a Compass Limited is stuck with those tires since NO brand tire maker makes a 215/55-18 tire to replace the Firehawks!!
When replacing tires you have to maintain close to the overall diameter, and who wants to start spending a few grand on new wheels and tires for a brand new vehicle?
I want to purchase this vehicle for my wife who commutes on the highway to work. The fact that this vehicle is fuel efficient, 4x4, and seems somewhat safe is the reason I want to consider this vehicle but Im not going to feel too good knowing that her tires SUCK...especially in rain or snow.
Interestingly the Jeep Compass Brochure shows a jeep limited with 18" standard wheels with the Outline White Letter GoodYear Wrangler SR-A tires...odd indeed that you can only get the firestone firehawks. Glad you pointed that out.
What is more interesting about that picture in the brochure of the 18" compass rims is the fact that Goodyear only makes 18" SR-A tires in 265 widths...and there is no way those tires in that picture are that wide plus the fact that you cannot get a 265 wide tire on a 7" wide rim.
