1) what type of ipod are you using?
2) where are you plugging the ipod in, the glovebox or the front of the radio faceplate?
there are certain ipod models that are not compatable with the new radios. chrysler is aware of the problem and they're working on it. also, it is not possible to take songs off of an ipod and move/copy them to the radio. you can only play the ipod through the radio. the only way to put songs on the radio is with a USB flash drive, or ripping a CD.
then you cannot control your ipod through your radio without installing the bluetooth kit and the ipod cable that goes along with it. the ipod cable for 2011 is just a female USB plug, however, it must plug into the bluetooth box behind the dash, which you do not have. in the cars equipped with the bluetooth from the factory, the USB cable is in the glovebox. that is where you would need to plug in your ipod in order for it to be controled from the radio. it is a fairly simple install (i've done it myself, twice). the only thing you need to take it to a dealer for is to have the bluetooth programmed. trust me, this kit is worth every penny. i love the u-connect kit. the ability to make and receive phone calls, and to control the radio via voice command is worth it. however, i just take all the songs from my iTunes, put them onto a flash drive and then store them on the radio itself. it's a 30 gig hard drive, more than enough for me.
I have been struggling on how to get my songs from my ipod into my HDD. I always plug it into the USB in my glove compartment but would like it on the hard drive. Thanks for posting this question and the answer regarding the flash drive. I'll try that. Does it work the same way for uploaded photo as well?
