Winpower Headlights

I'm sure everyone has seen the Winpower headlights for the 2011+ Compass that look like the updated GC headlights. I have figured out how to make them work, provided you don't have factory DRL's activated.

I managed to find out that the way to make these work, you have to look to the GC forums and see how they did the OEM Bi-xenon headlight retrofit. I got in contact with someone to make a wiring harness for the retrofit and I can confirm that the harness for the GC works for the Compass as well. I had both the low and the high beam come on along with the shutter working on the Bi-xenon when the high beam comes on.

For the DRL strip, I was going to use a standalone DRL controller since its just a H13 plug that controls the strip.

Now for the bad news, if you have the DRL's activated in the high beam, or the low beam, the low beam will flicker even with CAN-BUS decoders (these came with canbus ballasts) since it's not getting full power. They work perfectly fine when the low beam or high beam is on, just not when the DRL is on.

Update: I've got everything functioning as it should, just have to find the time to install them.

Rather than use Canbus decoders, use a harness with resistors instead, this creates more power draw and gets rid of the flickering.

I did a 2014+ WK2 Headlight mod, and other than some physical trimming of the headlights it was all plug and play as the WK2 Non HID models have the exact headlight configuration that we do.

Well, I guess here's an update for anyone interested. I've successfully installed these and everything is functioning properly. The light output is fantastic with these lights.

These look stunning I have emailed to enquire if they have a UK road legal version as we drive on other side so worried about beam.

If they don't reply, you can always have them opened up and flip the shield around.

You can always adjust your beam pattern... I'm never to this site and I never seen or heard anyone else putting these lights on... I put these in my rig and I wired them as follows... Factory hi and low beam plugs into factory aftermarket led canbus cancellers... Which is rewired into the h7 bulbs which came in the assembly's when I received them... The DRL is wired into the park light... And turn signal plug is plugged in... It's the only plug that worked... Lol.. as well as the foglight bezel switchback... I don't know how to post a picture or I would
