Maybe you want to ask the dealer or in the least the tire shop. When something goes wrong, it will be one or both of them you'll be looking at.

Personally I'd leave it alone and save your money.

235 is the max recommended for a 6.5" wide rim. I wouldn't go that wide personally, I went with a 225 for my 17" jeep rims. If you want wider than that buy wider rims.

my winter tires are that size because that's all i could get when i was looking for tires. they are fine to be honest but a wider rim is probably better. you will have no problems running this setup on factory rims here is a pic

Very good Zackman, I was very impressed having a Grand Cherokee as well that it did so well in very deep packed snow last year at my cottage with my new All Year tires. A lot also seems to do with weight balance and torque. Too much can break traction prematurely.

If only they weren't troublesome.

FYI:
I just changed my tires (215/60R17), i had to import those from the states (cost me like 190 bucks per tire, i saved lots of money), because here in Peru/Lima that particular tires are not common (jeep compass just have 3 years on the street). Of course you can go to a dealer and buy a 400 bucks each tire ($1600 all set). Jeep dealer is the same as BMW and Mercedes (imagine going to the dealer with some M3 or M5 or SLK´s around you, actually the mechanic came to you in a white flawless dress, you can start figuring out how much money they will ask for an oil change, haha).
For many things (i mean cars) USA is really cheap!!!!.

Change to 235/65R18

Hi every one , I change the tires of my compass, from 215/55R18 to 235/65R18, I needed to lift almost a inch, but when i turn completely, the tire make a little contact with the guard.

my jeep has 215/60/R17 which has these for details
Rim Diameter: 431.8mm (17 inches)
Sidewall Depth: 129mm (5.08 inches)
Total Diameter: 689.8mm (27.16 inches)
Rolling Circumference*: 2080.39mm (81.91 inches)

I want to put 235/70/16 which has these details would they still work I also want to put spacers on so the wont rub on full turn which I do know they will if I don't
Rim Diameter: 406.4mm (16 inches)
Sidewall Depth: 164.5mm (6.48 inches)
Total Diameter: 735.4mm (28.95 inches)
Rolling Circumference*: 2217.91mm (87.32 inches)

Im also planiong on putting the RRO Lift kit on in the future to add 2.125" for a suspension lift

235/70/16 will fit with spacers for sure, you shouldn't have rubbing problems with that setup at all
