Cool Hello from the UK

Hi all - I took delivery of my new Jeep Compass on 1st Feb 2012. It is a 2.2 CRD Diesel Limited Edition in white. Pretty happy with it, kids and wife love it - mind you they also love her VW Beetle cabriolet.

Had a few issues so far:

1) no service book
2) no user manual
3) strange intermittent smell ( burnt oil) when the car is hot. Service dept assured me that this is normal for the new engine, has been reported as common with Compass' and will go. Just concerned as I have had new cars before and never eerienced this.

Has anyone had any similar smells???

Cheers:

Hey Sparkyebb, did you get anywhere with the service book/user manual?

I noticed the burnt oil smell on my Compass and my Patriot before that, should be nothing to worry about! Maybe don't drive it too hard for few weeks though?

Where's the pics?

Hello and welcome to the forum, glad to have you join us! Sounds like a nice Compass, congrats! Any pics you can share? We'd love to see your new ride! I didn't have that smell with mine but if it continues past the break in period, I'd take it back and have them check it again. Lots of great people and info here, so any help you need, just ask and I hope you enjoy the site!

Cheers guys, thanks for the replies.

Yes I got the service book in the post - also the burning smell appears to have gone now. I do a lot of mileage, already done over 1,000 miles in it, so maybe (hopefully) the smell will not return

Haven't got any pics to upload yet, but will do soon.

It's not a common car in the UK - I test drove the Compass in September, the lease on my old car was not up until end of Jan, so, since September, and bare in mind I do about 25,000 miles a year, I have only ever seen 2 other Compass' on the road.

I was looking at a Merc or BMW, but wanted something completely different - stand out from the crowd.

Have to say, really enjoying it and it looks really cool.

Cheers

Just what I did, got mine 27th January, has 3D Sat Nav and front and rear parking sensors. A FEW THINGS TO SORT OUT, FINALLY GOT THE BOOKS etc.
Stne hit the windscreen yesterday and started cracking, replace today for £75 excess on Insurance Policy and had 2 parking tickets yesterday and today. Bloody expensive car to run this Compass (Lol) Still got the burning smell after 500 miles. Love the car though.

Well if you don't park it, you won't get the tickets. New cars are meant to be driven and on the move. Until you get home again.
Don't follow them lauries and them stones will be fed to other drivers. They have to be the worst for throwing stones. I stay well be back since they seam to have an ample supply of them. I've lost a few windscreens to them over the years as well.

You'd better get your noise in there and find out whats burning before your seat get hot without them heaters on. LOL
