Hello form Toronto, Canada

Hello Everybody:

Almost four years ago, my wife and I went into the local Chrysler dealership to check this "new" car they were writing about, called "Caliber".
Somehow, we ended up driving out with a leased Liberty Sport

Two weeks ago, I went to the Canadian International Auto Show here in Toronto and thought that the Patriot was "cute".

So last week (with seven months left on the Liberty lease), we went to the dealership, so that my wife could see what a Patriot looks like.

A white Compass Limited was on the show room floor. When she saw it, she did not even want to check the Patriot. The rest, as they say, is history.

The dealer worked his magic, the owing monies on the Liberty lease were "swallowed" in the deal and we will soon be the owners of a white Limited 4x4 Compass.

But, to make the "deal" work, we decided to forgo the "sun/sound" option as well as the mag alloy wheels option. No such white Limited Compasses could be found in nearby inventories and therefore, they are "making" the car "specifically" for us (sounds good doesn't it?).

It should be here in 6 to 8 weeks.

After reading the posts in this forum, I am looking forward to its arrival.

Regards,
Compass_Heading

Well hello and welcome to the forum! That's a cool story, and I know what you mean, first time I saw the Compass, the commercials hadn't even come out yet and there was not even an MSRP on it, I just knew I had to have it, so congrats!!! So everything else is going to stay the same as the Limited with the exception of the items you mentioned when you get it? Be sure and keep us posted, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask away! Talk to you soon!

Hello everybody:

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Cherokee - yes, the only thing we changed, were the two options I mentioned.

i2canoe - I hope that it is not more than eight weeks. In any event, I have "their" Liberty, until they give me "my" Compass

dgage246 - Yes, it is the 4x4 one. It was actually the first winter storm in the Liberty, that made me thank the "twist of fate" that made us walk out with it and not the Caliber, four years ago. I knew that I was getting home for sure, I just did not know when

Our winters (and their associated salt) are also the reason why we asked for the rust proofing and undercoating of the Compass.

CompassLimited - good point on the white and the snow. I hope that the elegant light grey/silver trim helps to find it. Otherwise, maybe I just won't wash it from Dec 1st to March 31st

As the dealer said last week: "we'll call you when we hear" .... and then I'll tell you.

Regards

Hi Zackman:
We are in the Bathurst/Sheppard area.
We deal with Downsview Chrysler, who have been good to us, one van, one Liberty and now, one Compass later.

Well, it is here!
White, elegant and smelly from the undercoating.
Took it work already and the ride was great. The lack of good rear vision will take some getting used to as I back it into our garage, after the big windows of the Liberty.
March 3 to May 6 is what it took.
That "sheet" that new cars have on their windows with their details (whatever the formal name of it is), stated that "This car was specially built for .... my name". I thought that was very cute and I saved it so that I can show it to the grandkids one day!
As it is a Limited, it has more features than I thought it would bring, particulalry since we "downgraded" the sound system.
We are happy

I had a very similar experience a few weeks ago. My Wife and I went to "look at cars" on a Saturday afternoon. I picked the car up the following Wednesday.

Just took it on it's first long trip to Toronto and back. We enjoy it a lot. Traded in a Sebring for it

I hope you enjoy yours as I enjoy mine.

Hello Ironwoodca!

We have had the Compass for a little over one week and we are very happy with it.

The one disappointing issue (and now I know that I am not alone!) is the inability to charge my (also) brand new iPod with the interface cable.

The other issue that I am having to adjust are the sight restrictions when backing up.

Other than that, it is great. Looks good too!

Go back to the dealer there may be a software update for the radio. I am getting mine updated next week. Chrysler really screwed up the radio engineering. AM/FM/MP3 Stereo but not MP3 control, ID tag display or anything else. This is abosolutely absurd. It like them say FM without tuning and channel display and giving you only SEEK SEEK functionality. Thats what I have on my MP3 when playing a MP3 CD, only NEXT NEXT NEXT via the SEEK buttons and not idea where I am or what I am listening to. Knowone would have designed a radio like this 8-10 years ago so why now. I am going to push for a replacement. Who tests there radio and MP3 functionality options are all there. We assume this is all there as part of a normal design but NO it is not. I was furious when I found out after hours of testing and reading and testing and more reading that I cannot even see what I am going to let alone not navigate in anyway shape or form. This is an upgraded Stereo, BS is junk not fit for the Taliban.
