Welcome...As Latitude2016 stated, I am a new Compass owner as well, on the 8th of September. The price point, along with the incentives, made it awful difficult to walk away from. I love the way it feels on the loose gravel I drove the other day, uphill. The way it felt like ti was walking up instead of rolling up, was pretty nice compared to what I've been used to.

Hello this is Jeepney_driver
Sorry for the late greeting, I have not used the forum for several months and I forgot my password. I'm back in.

I have a 2007 Jeep Compass which I bought new back then.
During the years I have put in 271,000 miles on it. Had some problems of course but most car owners do no matter what car they drive.
My jeep still runs great. I do all the work myself.
My advise is to get a service manual and learn as much as you can about the vehicle. It is very easy to maintaina and repair.
Of course you need tools, the manual and a place to do the work. Also time. I buy my parts online.

Other stuff like lubes, cleaners, wipes you can buy locally or at walmart.

Here's a good advise:
If you live in an area where you get snow and rain, buy a product called Mud-X. This will help keep the undercarriage and suspension components free of rust and dirt buildup. Remember, it is dirt that is the number one enemy of any vehicle.

There are other similar products. I got this at walmart.
I usually post some good tips and technical advise so it might be a good idea to look for my postings.

Again welcome my new friend.

Just bought a new 16 Compass as well. A basic sport 4X4. Traded in a Suzuki SX4, needed a cheap all wheel drive car, and this was hard to beat. Really impressed with the solidity of the body

Thumbs up Room For One More?

When the Compass first came out I fell in love with it but kids, work, house, etc. put owning one on the back burner. With my every day driver dying this past week (Mazda 3 with 200K) I took the plunge into Jeep ownership and couldn't be happier. Incentives and a very good education before visiting dealerships put me in one for far less than I ever expected.

I'm sure I'll be poking around here more often than not to pick up any tips and tricks that anyone wants to pass on to a newbie.
