Talking New to Jeep and to the forum

I'm Jen - my husband and I live in Cincinnati, and we just bought our first Jeep! We fell in love with the New Compass while we were vehicle hunting a few weeks back, and when we saw the Trailhawk in the orange, fell in love immediately! The test drive cemented the decision - nothing else we looked at was even remotely exciting, so it really feels like our dream car! We drove off with a fully loaded Spitfire Orange Trailhawk on Wednesday, and are thrilled so far! The hubby used to drive a 1998 Camry - so this is quite a step up! And long overdue, but wow! We are so glad we waited so long, since, up until now, this vehicle didn't even exist!

Looking forward to learning and sharing on the forum!

Congratulations on your Trailhawk.
I have just about 6000 miles on mine now.
I am really enjoying it. I am sure you and your husband will too.

Welcome to the boards and congratulations to you and your husband!

Would love to see some photos of that Spitfire Orange beast! It must be a huge change from the Camry though. What other vehicles were you considering?

Originally we were looking at the Mazda CX-5 - it seemed like the right fit size-wise, price-wise, and the options we needed/wanted. We'd been figuring on it for months, and I kept seeing them on the road - bazillions of them, (and then I started to groan every time I saw one). I have a 2015 Honda Accord, in dark gray, and I'm pretty sure I see about 15 of them on my way to work everyday. At first, because it was so new, I didn't see THAT many of them, but now! Geez everybody and their mother drives one.

Anyway - my husband talked me into going test driving a few Saturdays ago, and we quickly discovered I couldn't sit in the passenger seat of the Mazda! We tried the CX-5 & the CX-9. It was horrible. I'm not exactly petite, but I am short... Anyway, the seat was so small I was hanging off of it, and it hurt my back after 5 minutes. Also - me being short, the seat sit up too high from the floor of the car, which causes my feet to swell after a time, so road trips in that thing would be misery.

Anyway, that put us right back at square one. We looked at CR-V's that afternoon as well, but he has always hated those, just because, so it wasn't even a real option. Then we test drove a Ford Edge, because we were by a Ford dealer, and it was ok - we might have ended up settling on that. Nothing out there really had our interest at all.

Funny part of the story - how we found the Compass...

A few days before we went test driving I saw a green car - I love green - and this was a really sharp looking green, and it was a Compass - which is in the class of vehicles we were looking at. So I looked on the Jeep website to see if they still offered a similar color green for the Compass - because I love green - and I saw the New Compass on the site, and thought to myself, "wonder why DH isn't looking at the Compass? It looks nice!" The green isn't as awesome as the one I saw, but wow look at the orange one!

Well - fast forward to Saturday - and we are driving home from a disappointing day of looking at cars, and I mention the Compass. He didn't care for the old body style, so he was like "what? No"... so I pulled it up on my phone and showed him one. His reaction:

"That's a Compass?!?!"

Anyway - he spent the whole night researching and watching YouTube videos on the new Compass. We test drove a Trailhawk the next day, and that's all she wrote. It took us a couple weeks to find the right one, and the Spitfire Orange looks amazing! (Orange is my second favorite color.

Now considering trading my Accord in for a green Latitude in a stick.
