Hi from Puerto Rico

I'm considering in purchasing a 2018 Compass Latitude 4x4 with 6 speed manual transmission. Any pros and cons?

I've got a 2018 Latitude with 20,000 miles.

  • Great fuel economy. I've gotten 31MPG overall; since installing snow tires its dropped to about 29.5MPG. Cold weather could be a factor, too, since I'm warming it up most mornings and it runs higher RPMs for a few miles.
  • Rides and handles as well as a car.
  • Good usable cargo space.
  • Handles snow about like our Wrangler: it won't get stuck, but the lateral stability on the highway could be better. Aah, your in PR so that shouldn't matter.

  • Oil consumption. The first 15,000 miles I was getting <2000 miles to a quart of oil. I couldn't make it between oil changes without adding some. Since my last oil change (17,000) I've been 3500 miles and I haven't quite lost a quart so my oil consumption has definitely improved. Just keep an eye on your dipstick.
  • There are no convenient cubbies in the front seat area. Just the doors and glove box. Center console is pretty useless, and the sliding armrest covers one of the cup holders.

For the money I think its a great buy (better than its sister Cherokee). Certainly better than my cousin's CRV. I'm happy with it -- no regrets. But for the oil consumption I'd be thrilled.

I have a 2018 Limited with 9 speed automatic.

it's a decent vehicle with good build quality. There were some nuisance computer programming issue but after the update, it's been good.
Clever interior packaging gives your more interior room than it looks. It looks better than the rest of the competition -- personal opinion.

It's comfortable on road and off road. It's quiet too.

Mileage isn't so good and the 2.4L is not a smooth engine. Get a 2.0L Diesel or 1.4 Turbo if it's available where you live.

It's not as refine as some of the competitors but it will take a lot more abuse. You don't need to be gentle with this vehicle.
