Hi all

Just posting a nice hello world message.

Found the forums when I was looking into the ridiculous oil consumption of our 2018 Jeep Compass and figured I would register to post my thoughts and ask questions...maybe even help some people....well if they are easy questions

Welcome! Obviously this is a problem for some, but not all, Compasses. I wonder what the percentage rate of problems vs. sales is? My 2018 Compass started out at about 1000 miles/qt and improved to about 3000 miles/quart. Sadly it was wrecked but I liked it enough to buy a 2019 and while it is too early to be certain, its seems the oil consumption is better on my 2019.

Just think of it as going retro. Back in the 1950s it was SOP to check the oil at every fill-up.

Probably not very much considering about ~300-400k vehicles sold since the release of 2nd gen. That number is so large that even if it was as common as 1%, there would be 3000-4000k such engines (just in compass, more if you include other cars with the same engine), and this forum would have been flooded with oil consumption threads. Forums like this always exaggerate problems since people are naturally more likely to find a place to complain, but even then we donít get anything in the vicinity of thousands.

Also remember that % might be low to what has been sold but also how many people are actually checking their own oil anymore. 😞

Very true. I hope ours gets better.

Still needs an oil sensor to warn of low oil!

now on to find in-channel vent visors - or I may shake hands with an Alpha Centaurian fist lol
