Re: jeep compass

George:

a.) For the clunk problem, you need to take your Compass to your dealership and have them replace the two front control arm bolts. I had the same symptom on my Compass, and this known problem/repair took care of it. Jeep has a "Rapid Response" bulletin regarding the problem. See: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=608453

b.) The "horseshoe" icon on your dash means that you have at least one tire on your Jeep that is low on air pressure. My Compass's alert goes off when one of the tires hits 29 psi or less. So go air your tires up, and that will take care of that problem!

Good luck, and report back here with the results!

Re: jeep compass

i took my jeep compass in this morning had to argue with the service tech, after about 15 minutes i whent to the head man at the jeep dealer,he sent the mechinac out on a test drive with my jeep compass,20 minutes later the compass came back on a wrecker.it seems the bolts in question snapped,in the mean time they found the rapid response bullition on this problem they had to replace the tie rods and the front suspension just because they would not listen to me,they wanted to know how i found out about this problem.i told them about the forum.they then called chrysler and sure enough i was rite the bolts were supposed to be hard steel they put soft ones in.so now all the compass,s are going to have a recall letter sent to them.i told them no wonder the big 3 is falling apart thanks for the help.there will be no more american cars in my household,i will buy a honda or toyota next time .2 new cars in 2 yrs and 2 break downs
thanks and happy thanks giving from muskegon michigan :P

jeep compass

Since I first saw the Compass and the Caliber, I always thought the Compass was butt-ugly, and the Caliber, with a Jeep-style grill would have made a much better looking Jeep.

Someone on one of the KJ forums once called the Compass a road-going toad... that stuck in my head, I think it fits perfectly.

Now the Patriot, while essentially the same thing as someone said, at least looks like a Jeep

Nothing against them or those who drive them, for what they are.

I test drove a couple of Patriots, and liked them Ok. The Compass seems a little better built to me. The Patriot seemed more "Tinny" to me anyway. The Compass is a cool Jeep/Car, and deserves some respect!
