Question air intake/battery cover

just bought an 07 compass without the air intake piece that you have to take off to access the battery. How will this affect my performance and how can i obtain 1?

I would think it would pull in more hot air without the duct. I belive this is the piece you are looking for...

Jeep Repair Parts: Jeep: Compass: 2007: Fuel System: Fuel Supply

Kinda pricey! Look around the web and you will probably find one cheaper...good luck.

Hello my friend. This intake duct is an important piece. It helps quiet down the sound of the air going into the air box and also helps bring in cool air which is important. By the way always clean or replace the air filter regularly. Dirty air is what really kills the engine. A clogged filter will definitely affect performance and will allow very fine dust particles to go thru especially during heavy acceleration. I clean my air filter every couple of weeks. Use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the dirt from the input side. Shake the filter to loosen the dirt. I never replaced my air filter since I bought the car in 2007. You will feel the difference before and after clean or replacement.
